Hi group!!

Recently, I did a repair install, actually about a month ago. Ever since,
I get no updates. I get updates on my other systems from MS, but nothing on
my repaired PC. What could be causing this and is it a common thing?

TIA,

Doug

I suggest you post to the experts in the Windows Update newsgroup and also
include some relevant information such as how does the computer connect to
the internet, how are you trying to get updates - do you mean through
automatic updates? Is the windows update service started and set to
automatic in services.msc? What happens when you try to get updates, error
messages? Have you gone to the WU site and done an express or custom scan,
can updates be installed from the WU site?

have you checked
to see if the auto update &
bits services are started?

seems a bit odd that your
security center hasn't provided
any warnings about not having
an update service turned on as
it was designed to be a constant
reminder.

so you might also want to check
out the service for the security
ctr as well...

Yes, I have checked all that, and it IS indeed on. AND I do NOT get any of
the balloon warnings anymore other then there might not be an Anti-Virus
installed, and the firewall is not on. I have all that on the Router side,
and is network installed and monitored. It "should" work, but is not.
Thank you for your response though!

TIA

i don't think your firewalls
and antiviral have anything
to do with you inability to install
updates.

a good check would be to go
to the Microsoft.com update
website and see what information/
feedback it will provide to you
about your current o.s.

it will either provide you with any
updates required by your current o.s.

or

the site will advise you with the
likely cause for your inability to
download updates.

in the event the site provides you some info
on the errors and you are unable
to resolve them then you have 2
options.
