Repair install of XP from hard drive

I wanted to know if it is possible to copy my XP home
disk to one of my drives and do a repair install from the
hard drive(safe mode, command prompt?) whenever necessary
instead of booting from the CD. I have 4 hard drives and
am running my CD off of an ultra133 PCI card which I
can't get to boot through the bios. Whenever I do a
repair install now, I have to disconnect a hard drive and
connect my CD to that cable.

If you copy the setup.exe and the whole i386 folder into the root of a
hard drive, it *ought* to be possible. But I have not had occasion to
try, and think I would move hard drive(s) to that card and have the CD
on the regular IDE
