Can anybody help me with 2 really irritating problems. I have just purchased
a laptop with WinXP home SP2. The problem is that when I create a text file
or copy a folder (or similar files) onto the desktop it does not allow me to
rename it as the options to rename is not there (neither is the right click
rename option)

The other problem is that when I log on in the evening and log back in the
next time, the files and or folder(s) have gone and I have to re-create them
all over again.

Is it a security issue that is causing this? Apart from the guest account I
am the only user.

Many Thanks

I think you should scan your computer for both Virus and Spyware attack with
the update versions of your anti-scanners.

PC is clean according to Bullguard Antivirus and Ad-aware scanned PC 2
nights ago. Do you think it could be missing something?

I was guessing that it could be because of virus and spyware. Anyhow, I can
give you some tips, see if they work.

If you are the administrator then try creating a new user and do everything
there which you was doing in your current profile.

One more thing, check if "Show Desktop Icons" is enable by right-clicking on
the Desktop and point to Arrange Icons By.

Thanks for the tips Rajkohli, will try this tonight and report back either
way.

Have yourself a good weekend and happy Easter
