Renaming An External Drive- Help, the computer's about to get it!!!!!

Hi, please stop me from throwing my laptop out of a very high window! I have an external Hard Drive and my laptop decides every now & then to change it's identity. First it was 'E: Drive', then it became 'F: Drive' & today it's changed into 'G: Drive' which is messing up all my settings. Can someone please tell how I can change the external Hard Drive back to 'F: Drive' again please, is it possible to do that & why does my laptop keep doing it?

Go to Start > Run > diskmgmt.msc

Right-click on the drive and change its letter.
