rename zip folder extension

I email zipped folders to folks whose email system strips .zip attachments.
Anyone know how to rename the folder name extension from .zip to something
like .zzz?
 
Thanks Bert, but even after renaming the file 'sample.zzz', it still remains
appended with the '.zip' extension.

You need to go to folder options..view tab and uncheck hide extensions for
known file types. Then you can change the file extension.
