The only thing I can see to do is to uncheck the "Share this folder"
box to unshare the folder but this does not delete the share so that
it can be redone. I see that with WinXP Pro it is possible to add a
new share but you can't with HOME. Hopefully the net share command
will work.
I find it odd that renaming or deleting a share is such a difficult
operation in HOME. I was unable to find any help on this topic on the
Internet.
Pegasus, the net share command worked dandy. I also tried a
workaround the does the trick. You can copy the folder's contents to
another folder, delete the shared folder, and then recreate it. Sloppy
but it works. I like your way better. Thanks.
Yes, you can remove a share in Explorer if you play around a little:
It's a clumsy method but it works:
1. Create a share.
2. Click "New Share" and enter a new name.
3. Click "Remove Share".
4. Click the share you wish to remove. Gone!
I do not have ready access to a WinXP home PC, hence
I cannot verify your observation. However, since you now
have a method to delete existing share names, this should
not really matter.
I replied to you 24 hour ago and said that I do not have
ready access to a WinXP Home machine and that I cannot
verify what you write. However, the command I gave you
lets you get around this issue.
