How can I remove some of the shortcuts embedded on the right hand side of
the task bar. I have removed windows messenger from my computer but the icon
remains on the task bar.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Hi Paul,

They represent programs loading at system startup. Disable those that you do
not want by clicking start/run and entering msconfig, click "ok" and go to
the startup tab. Uncheck the lines that load those you do not want.

Thanks for the reply and the advice.

I want to remove Instant Messenger and it looks like there may be two
programs than could be removed from the Start menu INSTAN~1 and msmsgs.
Would I be safe in unchecking both.

Paul

Hi,

Yes you would, though they are two different programs (MS Messenger and
Windows Messenger).
