Hi,
Can some tell me how to remove the arrows from the shortcuts on the desktop.
I thinks its a matter of changing some registry entry, but I don't remember
which one.

TIA,
Gary

Hi,

I recommend you not to tweak with the registry as it can
cripple your system if you do something wrong.

Instead download this Power Toys from
microsoft.com/windowsxp. Install that and run Tweak UI.
you will get a feature to turn off that arrow marks. that
is the safe way.

Gary,
M. Rajesh is right that you shouldn't change your registry, but if you hate
those things as much as i do and you know a little about messing around in
your registry.... here's how i do it and i have never had any problems...
I have however always had major problems after installing any of the power
toys and versions!
So if you want to tweak your PC the "old fasioned" ( and actually less
intrusive, and cleaner) way here is the keys to look for...

DITCH THOSE ARROWS!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Open Regedit and go to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Lnkfile
and then to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Piffile
In each of these folders the right hand pane has the "IsShortcut" String.
Right-click on it, select Rename, and change it to read "IsNotShortcut" (no
quotes).
Good luck and happy tweaking!
Amy
Thanks for the help Kelly/Amy,
I have tried your suggestions but i still can't get rid of those shortcut
arrows.
What am I doing wrong?
