removing programs that automatically start up

I'm attempting to close some programs I never use (Windows messenger, 247
Cams (whatever that is), and a few others that appear miniaturized in the
lower right once Windows boots. I'm aware of how to manually close these
every time I boot Windows, but I want them to never start in the first place.
Is there a central locale from which I can do this?

msconfig, installed on your sys, is one way.
Assuming you cannot / dont wish to uninstall the apps.

start > run > msconfig > press enter > click the startup tab

beware of stopping things that you are not sure what they are

qttask is safe to stop

Thanks. I run Tune-up utilities on all my other computers because of the
easy interface. I haven't been to msconfig in years, and forgot.
