I removed a program using the 'Add or Remove Programs'
option in Control Panel. While the program has been
removed from my C: drive, it is still listed in
the 'Currently installed programs' list. This has not
been a problem for any other programs. Is there any way
to remove that file from the list?

Thanks.

That because as far as windows is concerned it's all working. If Windows
detects the program has been deleted it offers to remove it from the list.

Many programs use the same setup program. Add/Remove tries to run the
uninstall command and another program's setup program gets executed. This
setup program can't run sucessfully because the uninstall data file for the
application being uninstalled has been deleted. Because a setup program
sucessfully started windows doesn't know that it failed and doesn't offer to
remove. PS this happens because programs put themselves in the wrong place.
Another variation is a wrong version of the setup program starts that can't
quite understand the uninstall datafile format. Also setup dll mismatches
sometimes occur.

You'll find the Add/Remove list here
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Hi!
Sometimes one has to delete the remainings manually.Search for the
deleted program in your computer. If you get the folder you delete
that.Best method is to use Regcleaner sort of software which deletes the
program from the junk Registry.
