Greetings,

I am facing an issue with a user that installed Office Beta 2003 on his
system. Since the final active period ended on Saturday, he constantly gets
messages about activation. I am going to need to uninstall his Beta product
and whether or not the XP version is still there, I will have to see. My
question is that I thought I remembered that when you went from Outlook 2003
back to XP, that the Archive folders would be unable to open if you tried to
connect to the archive folder. Is this true? If so, where is documentation
that will guide me into removing his office beta completely without loss to
his archive folder.

TIA

Robert Wisian Jr.

If the archive file or any other .PST file was created with Outlook 2003, it
will not work with earlier versions of Outlook -- Outlook 2003 has a new
format for .PST files and it's not backwards compatible. You'd need to
create a new .PST file in the old format (click File | New | Outlook Data
File and it will ask you which format you want to use) and copy all the data
from the Outlook 2003 file to the old format file. Then you will be able to
open the old format .PST in older versions of Outlook.
