Removing Other Operating systems

I tried to reformat my harddrive and do a clean install of
XP home. After hours of work and numerous problems I
ended up with two XP home on there and a windows 95. I
have reformatted and reinstalled many times before on 95
and 98 PC's. What went wrong. More importantly how do I
get to only one operating system on my computer???
