I know how to use either Display Properties or Tweak UI to remove the
Network Connections icon from the Windows XP Desktop, but when you
double-click on My Computer and browse up one level to the Desktop
window in Explorer, it's still there. How can I make the Network
Connections icon disappear from there too?

Hi
Just having Internet connection is having a Network (you and the world
Inter-Networking). So the OS need its Network system working. You can get
rid of linked icons (like the one on the Desktop) but not elimiminate core
Icons.

Yes. But I'm not talking about eliminating core icons or disabling
the Windows XP networking system, just preventing its icon from
appearing in a certain folder. Specifying in Display Properties that
I don't want this icon visible on the Desktop should render it
invisible in the folder view of the Desktop too.
