Removing filter-button greyed out

I've inadvertently applied a filter to a table, and saved the result. I want
to unfilter the table i.e. to "Show All Records", but the filter button is
greyed out? I've tried using the "Remove Filter" option through the Records
menu, but that doesn't seem to do anything! Some advice please???

Open the table in design view.

Open the Properties box (View menu).

Delete the entry beside the Filter and OrderBy properties.

Save the change to the table.

Thank you Allen - Have followed advice, deleted entry, saved, closed,
re-opened - Entry has gone, but table still the same - only the 30 odd
filtered records showing out of some 900!
Any other thoughts ?

Why do you believe there are 900 entries in the table?
Are you able to view these other entries in a query, for example?

There is a kind of index corruption that can cause this kind of behavior,
but I would be surprised if it matches your symptoms. Details:
Symptom: Number of records varies, depending how the data is sorted

Thanks again Allen, I will go through your link and see what I can do!
This table is my main database, I've built it up over several years and
regularly amend/update the contact details - without previous problem.
When I last opened it, I did a filter as I wanted to mail a certain group
within that database - which I did successfully.
However when I went back in again to make further updates, the only records
visible are the 30 odd filtered ones - I HOPE that the main part of the
database i.e. the other 970 odd, are "hidden" somewhere!
As you can probably tell my overall knowledge of using Access is extremely
limited!!

Thanks again for your replies. I have tried the suggestions re: un-corrupting
the database - but no joy! I recently updated Windows 98 to Windows ME, could
this have anything to do with it ? Several Reports/Forms generated from the
original table all have the same 30+ records in them
