Removing "copyright mark" when you type "(c)"

When I type as follows in Microsoft Word:

(a)
(b)
(c)

The above "(c)" becomes a "copyright mark." How do I avoid this from
happening?

If you might sometimes want it, you can simply press Ctrl+Z right after it
happens to undo that particular automatic change.

Or, if you want to zap it completely, you can remove it from AutoCorrect.
Tools - AutoCorrect Options - AutoCorrect tab. Find (c) in the Replace: list
at the left, select it, and click Delete.
