I have recently upgraded my Laptop from Win 98 SE to XP Pro, SP2. However,
even though I have very few programs and almost no data on the 5.2 gig
system, it showing me that there is only 1.1 Gig Open on the HD. I am
thinking that when I installe the upgrade to SP-2 that it created a large
back up file and placed it on the hard drive and that it is still there. If
this is true, can I remove this file now? And what is the name of the file
and where is is located/

I don't know if this is the solution to your problem as there may be back-up
files on your computer as well (this is very likely). However, depending on
the amount of RAM you have installed on your machine, your PageFile may be
extremely large and taking up your hard disk space. Check that as well. It
should be approximately 1.5x's your amount of RAM for the top box and approx.
3 x's your amount of RAM in the bottom box. Anything more than that may be
excessive depending on what you do on your system or what you use it for. As
far as the backups, I can not be sure of their location.
