Hi,

I'm trying to remove a mailbox from my folder list in
Outlook 2000. When I right click on the mailbox under the
folder list and click Close I receive a message that
says "To remove these folders, Use the Services command
from the Tools window". The error message is correct, I
should be able to go back into Tools/Services then to
Exchange Server Properties then the Advanced tab and
remove the mailbox under "Open these additional mailboxes"
except that this mailbox is NOT listed there. How else
might I be able to remove this mailbox? Any assistance is
appreciated.

Thanks

Tony

Sounds like your OL profile is corrupt. I'd create a new one, test it, then
delete the old one.

Hello Tony,

Thank you for posting here.

Based on the current information, I suggest you perform the following steps
to narrow down the issue.

Step 1: Start Outlook in Safe Mode
==============
Safe Mode will disable all add-ins and extensions that will not start, as
well as any corrupted resources, files, registries and templates.

(a) Close Outlook.
(b) Go the Start menu of the Windows. Click Start menu-> Run, type "Outlook
/Safe" (without the quotation marks and there is a space between Outlook
and /Safe) in the Open box and press Enter.

Step 2: Create a New PST File or E-mail Profile in Outlook
===============
To do so, refer to the following article:
195718 OL2000: (CW) How to Create a New E-mail Profile for Outlook
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=195718

Step3: Create a new Windows account
=================
Please create a new Windows account with the administrative privilege.
Start Outlook in this newly created Windows account, configure the mail
account and test the issue again.

If all the method does not help, please provide me a screen shot of the
popup message.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other concerns, or need
anything else.

Thanks & Regards
Alan Sun

I think this is a big fuss over something small.

I closed Outlook first of all.
I went into the registry and went into the following folder:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Messaging
Subystem\Profiles\Default Exchange Profile

From here I went down through the different subfolders and found that one of
them contained the same name as the offending mailbox. I deleted this folder.

When I restarted Outlook, it had disappeared. I have double-checked and this
registry edit hasn't affected anything else.
