I'm glad you asked. I don't remember how many posts I've seen from users who
lost everything because they didn't do this properly.
What you need to understand is this: Once you a delete a user account, it's
gone forever. So if there's anything in that account that you want to keep,
take it out before you delete the account. Obviously, this includes all your
documents, photos, music, etc. You may also want to keep your Favorites and
your address book. You can't simply combine two user accounts, because user
accounts can contain different settings (for wallpaper, sound schemes, etc.)
To be really safe, backup everything you want to keep to a CD or DVD. That
way, if you make a mistake you won't lose anything.
When you delete a user account, Windows asks if you want to keep all your
documents. If you answer 'yes' Windows will make a copy of your 'My
Documents' folder and put it on the desktop. You can also copy your
documents, music and pictures to the Shared Documents folder, where they
will stay even after you delete the account. You can import your Favorites
from 'greggie' to the Administrator's Favorites and you can also import your
Outlook Express address book.
As an aside: To maximize your security and privacy, you shouldn't use your
Administrator account for everyday computing. It's safer to use an account
with restricted privileges.
