I have the exact same problem. Somehow, the system32 file became corrupted. The repair option wouldn't work and I had to reinstall. Now I get the message:
Please select operating system to start
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
The default version (in the first position) works. The 2nd choice has the corrupted file and doesn't boot. How do I remove it from the options?
