running WindowsXP Pro, SR3

For a reason not obvious to me I have window on a password application (ANY
PASSWORD) that now comes up with about 50% transparency. I do not know how
or why this came about, unless I pressed some sequence of keys unknowingly.
Could you please tell me how to remove this transparency.

TIA

You could use System Restore to return Windows to a point
before this issue became apparent.

Is there no control that I have access to in XP? I see there are a number
of applications out there that let you control transparency. Doesn't XP
provide that capability without additional software?

You could probably find one if you spent enough time looking
for it. I don't know where it is, hence my suggestion of using the
fix-all cure of System Restore.
