I have 3 XP boxes and my Vista box networked together.

When I access the public folder on my Vista box from an XP box I am asked
for a password. How do I remove the need for the password. I want anyone to
be able to access, read and write files in the folders without the need or a
password

Thanx

If you setup accounts on the Vista machine with the same names and passwords
used on the XP machines then Vista will no longer ask for a name and
password (it will automatically get them from the logon info from the XP
machine).

Hi - thank for your reply. I don't want to set up multiple accounts on my
Vista box. Is there any other way?

In the Network and Sharing Center, make sure that Password protected sharing
is turned off.

Here's how you get rid of the passwords:
Go to Start - Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network and
Sharing center and select Turn OFF password protected sharing

Hope this helps

Many thanx - sorted
