I have recently installed Office Xp on my system and am
now using Outlook. However I am unable to get rid of
Outlook Express despite 'uninstalling' it via the control
panel.

Can anybody assist me - thanks

There's no need to uninstall it, and as it shares some components with
Outlook, best to leave it alone. Just make OL your default mail program
(control panel, internet options, programs).

I have had the same problem. I wanted to make Outlook my
default email, however despite making it my default
programme using the tools, internet properties checkboxes
etc, everytime I open IE when going online OE starts up!
It is very frustrating - I also tried to delete OE
without success - everytime I deleted a component of it
in the folde it automatically reappeared. Help!!!!

You CANNOT delete Outlook Express and keep Outlook functional. Outlook
depends on certain files in Outlook Express to function properly.

You can either delete the mail account properties from Outlook Express
or you can configure Outlook Express to be used as a newsreader only.
Find the exact location of your msimn.exe file, then add the /newsonly
or /outnews suffix to it.

Also, you have to stop Outlook Express from checking for mail on its
own.
