We want to remove some of the options displayed in several Word/Excel menu´s.
I searched the group and found info about using Tools > Customize, and then
you can remove menu items.

It stores these changes in normal.dot?
It it possible to store it in the registry?

We are using Office 2003 SP2 running on CPS 4, RES PowerFuse 7.03

A number of user option/settings (Tools - Options) are saved in the
registry, but keyboard and menu customizations are saved/stored only in
document and template files.

The basic idea is user-customizability. Attempts to remove items work
against Word's basic philosophy. It's like trying to impose restrictions on
freedom-of-speech in an otherwise free country. You'd have to enforce it by
hiring customization monitors who would rap the users' knuckles if they
tried to customize something.

That said... which options do you want to remove? There are some things you
can do with a policy editor.

We just don´t want the users to see functions we don´t want them to use. Or
functions that aren´t relevant to their job.

We to remove:
File > Permissions
File > web page preview
Tools > Research
Tools > Language > Translate
Help > MS Office Online
Help > Check for updates

etc etc etc
