There is a right click, but no properties to allow you to change
permissions. But I will give the task manager information to the person I
am helping.

Windows XP home: There is a folder on the desktop. It has no name under
it.
It can be opened, files can be placed in it, but it cannot be deleted.
I have tried safe mode, no luck. I have run a registry fix program, no
luck.
Probably a registry edit. Need some help.
Hi:
In addition to the helpful reference Pegasus gave you to a n MS Web
doc, I would offer the following.
1 There are many reasons you cannot delete a folder from your desktop
but by far the most common is it is locked by windows. There are ways
of going into security tab on the properties tab when you right click,
and manually changing the permission and ownership of any file or
folder. You have to know what you are doing, but once you have done
that you should be able to delete a file.
2 When Windows has locked the file or folder, you can sometime close
Explorer and then delete it. (The folder) to do that Hit Ctrl - Alt-
Del which brings up Task manager . Select Explorer.exe on the
processes list tab, right click on it and select end process. This will
close all your windows - except Task Manager and your destop icons will
disappear - DON'T PANIC. Then open a command prompt box and navigate to
the folder or file you want. Then delete it at the command line. When
done go back to Task Manager which is still open and click on the file
menu of Task Manager - you will see New Task... Open that and type
"Explorer.exe" without the " marks. Yor desktop will reappear by magic
with your icons Voila !
