I use office 2003 under windows XP (SP2).
Normally I only have a "personal folders" in the top of my all folders. On
a regular basis I archive my files to different .pst
Lately I get those archive folders on the same level as the "personal
folders" and I can't close them. Error message "the operation failed - an
object was not found".
I went through the list here and found some things to do: remove the email
account, run "scanpst", etc.
Nothing seems to help, even re-installing Office isn't helping.

Who out there knows a solution for this problem? Many thnks in advance,
much obliged.

I have the same problem. The normal advice is to delete your mail profile
and set up[ a new one. However, it didn't work for me. let me know if you
have any success. Did you use the "import" facility - this is usually blames
for this problem.

Hi cdbits,

Could be that I used "import". but I noticed it for the first time after an
"archive" from the folders

What method did you use to recreate your mail profile? Never use import or
overwrite a pst-file or you'll corrupt it again. For detailed steps see;

Ha !! Your question prompted me do look at mine again and this time I
deleted the old mail profile and it worked - the duplicate folders vanished.
So - Go to Control panel, mail , click show profiles. On the General tab
click prompt for a profile to be used. Note your settings in the currrent
profile pop address, smtp etc. and then delete it. Click add and create a
new profile (I gave mine another name). Should now be OK. I agree with
Roady - don't use import. Just have your .pst in onother folder and select
it from Outlook.
