I have an Excel document with myriad carriage returns within cells. Is there
a way to remove them all at once or do I have to manually go into each cell
and hit delete?

Highlight the cells, then do CTRL-H (Edit/Replace):

Find What: CTRL-J
Replace with: leave blank
click Replace All

Hope this helps.
