Somehow "i-lookup.com" has inserted itself as my default
home page and added its toolbar, with endless pop-ups. I
keep deleting its favorites, changing the home page - but
it always comes up on re-start. And I can't get
permanently remove the toolbar. Has it changed the
registry?
Anyway, can anybody help me get rid of this pest?
Thanks
Dimitri

Hi,

Download the iLookup killer from here:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/utils/ilookup_kill.exe

To remove the iLookup Toolbar: Use ToolbarCop:

Ramesh,
Thanks very much for your advice. I approached it with
some trepidation (always worrying about the bloody
registry)- but it worked fine.

Mike,
Thanks a lot for your link. It worked very well. I killed
the bloody thing 3 times over, with all the advice I got.
Good: dead is dead.
Keep up the good work
D.

Hi Ramesh -
Unfortunately, I was too sanguine. Your toolbar killer
seems to have succeeded. But the i-look.com killer has
not, because endless interference has popped up again (and
now I can't even 'copy' your link from the right-click
mouse button).
I've re-booted & shut down a few times, but (not
surprisingly) that hasn't helped eliminate anything.
Has this ghastly thing mutated? (Extermination of the
pest, and its designers, would seem quite appropriate!!)
Any further ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
D

Dimitri, Download Hijackthis and post the log here.

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

Ramesh,
"But the i-look.com killer has not"
Most likely it's not catching the last several variants of I-Lookup?
One surfaced about a month ago, the other was detected last week.

Note: even Andrew's page is a little outdated ....... (only shows the first
7 variants ;)

Thanks Mike, I've already updated this tool following this PestPatrol
instructions, not sure why it did not work:
http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/i/ilookup.asp

Yes. Doxdesk site does not list all the DLLs concerned. I even tried to get
the actual DLLs for further inspection, but could not download it.
