I took a image of my C drive using Power Quest Drive Image 2002 and
stored the files on my D drive (2nd HDD). Since then, I cannot use
these files, as they have some how become corrupted, and i want to
delete them.

However, i cannot delete these files, as it says they are in use. the
application has been uninstalled, and i cannot even delete them in safe
mode, or in pseudo-DOS mode. these files are taking up about 2GB, and
i would quite like them to be gone.

how can i delete these files?

Cheers,

Phil

Try this:

simply reformat the hdd.
if formatting is not allowed, then fdisk it.

remember to move the other files
onto your main hdd temporarily.

afterwards, consider a newer
version of disk imagers; as
your 2002 may not be compatiable
anymore, unfortunately.

drive image xml is pretty good, as there
may be others as well.

ps: it would be helpful to create
an additional partition on that hdd exclusively
for your future images and file/folder copies.

If nothing else of value is on the D: partition, delete that partition, and
re-create it. The files will go with the deleted partition. Its unclear to
me if the files became corrupted due to a filesystem table corruption or
possibly an actual hard disk problem. You should check if the latter is the
problem.

Thanks for all replies. i shall take a look at the recommended
programs. however, the D drive is 20GB and i have abuot 17Gb worth of
data i want to keep, so fdisk/format is really out of the question.

Cheers,

Phil
