Remotem access - Turning off a PC Remotely

Hi,
Does anyone know if it possible to Shutdown a Pc using
Remote access.
Basically I want to run a computer as a Server in my
house, but want to be able to swithch it on when I walk in
the door, Log on to it remotely to comnnect o the Net and
switch it off remotely, As I don't have a spare screen,
Keyboard and mouse.

Any Ideas ?

yes it is possible.
There are many trojan like programs that allow this behaviour. But remember
if you are going to be sending remote procedure calls via any
program/protocol that the recieving computer will have to be "listening"
which means it is vulnerable to security risks.

You can do it without security risk. Check out WebEx Access Anywhere
( http://www.webex.com/go?accessone ). It is having a promotion that
you can try it out for free till 2005. It is secure because it uses
128 bit encryption, doesn't require you to open additional ports, and
have various authentication methods. It gives you the power not just
shutting down machines but also change configuration etc.
