Hi,
I want to shut down a computer on my LAN that runs Windows XP Home Edition.
I use the shutdown.exe command but i get 'network path not found' error,
even though i type the correct computer name. I can however remotely shut
down PC's with XP Pro.
I understand that you need administrative rights when you shut down a
computer remotely and any computer that connects to a XP Home Ed. has only
guest rights. Isn't there a way to get around this to be able to shut down
the XP Home machine remotely? Thanks.

Hasan,

I know little about Windows XP Home Edition, but you could
anyway give PsShutdown from www.sysinternals.com a try. It is
more reliable than shutdown.exe.

An example for a shutdown command would be:

psshutdown -k -f -t 00 \\mycomputer
