I have my computer connected to a television in another room. Picture and
sound are excellent! Is there some way to extend the handheld remote-control
so that could be used in the room where the television is located? I was
hoping the remote emitter would be able to be used to extend the range of the
of the remote-control device. But apparently it doesn't do this.

You can buy a infrared remote control extender. They generally have a range
of about 100 feet.
