Remote Tab doesn't appear in System Properties

Well I have looked all over trying to find an answer to
this and just can't seem to locate one.

The problem that I am running into right now is I just
finished installing Windows XP Professional with Service
Pack 1 and I wanted to set up the ability to "Allow users
to connect remotely to the computer".

However when I open the system properties dialog box, I
only have six tabs out of the seven that should be there.
The missing tab is "Remote".

I am assuming that this is due to some security issue on
the machine (probably a policy setting). However, am
uncertain. I DO have full administration rights on the
machine, so I know its not anything to do with that. I
also can fix this more than likely by just reinstalling
Windows XP, but don't want to let it come to that.

I've installed XP now on about 75 different machines and
have never ran into a problem such as this until now,
after looking at the MS knowledgebase and google groups I
just can't seem to come across the solution.

Thanks to whoever can help,
Jessee Holmes

Go to Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Under the General tab, check "Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services",
click "apply" and reboot.

Carey,

Thank you for the reply, I just tried your suggestion,
even tried switching the option first to diagnostic mode
and then to normal mode. and rebooted. Nothing, I still
see no "Remote" tab.

Any more ideas,

Thanks again,
Jessee Holmes

Hello;
Just a thought regarding your problem. It is my understanding that you can
not enable Remote, under System Properties, unless you log on as an
Administrator. My machine has Windows XP Pro installed and SP1.The Remote
tab is displayed. I realize I am clutching at straws here, because I know
very little about connecting to a computer outside of my LAN. I hope it
helps. Good luck!
