Hi,

I have 4 computers on a home network.
We have shared all drives and partitions with one another.
I would like to turn them off without going through the house to do it.

I tried the cntrl - alt - end thing and nothing happens.
I have tried a couple of shutdown programs one the target computers and
rewrittent the network path to the app that will shut down the target.
They don't work.

Thought I really was hoping for something MUCH simpler I also tried Sys
Tools.
I can't get access through System Tools / System Information / View /
Remote Computer.
It gives a multiple choice error.

Is there a shor, quick way for me to set the shutdown in motion thru my
main computer?

thanks,

mitch

You could remote desktop to each computer, if they're running XP Pro, and
shut them down.

Have a look at shutdown.exe. It's included with WinXP.

If I navigate to the shutdown.exe from my desktop to my kids desktop
and click it
It shuts down MY computer not theres.
(Yes I am certain I have navigated through there files to their
shutdown.exe)

Don't navigate to it - run it from a Command Prompt so that
you can see the various options:
- Click Start / Run
- Type cmd {OK}
- Type shutdown
- Examine the various switches, especially the one that lets
you shut down other PCs
- Test it from the Command Prompt
- When you have the correct combination, create a desktop
shortcut with the command you tested.
