I am always getting the remote procedure call unexpected
stopping and causing my system to restart. How do I get
this problem fixed

I got this virus right after reinstalling Windows. Apparently I got it from
the windows update site. Even after I deleted the virus manually, ran the
removal tools and installed the patches I still had problems. So I
reinstalled Windows again and installed patches 823980 and 824146 /before/
doing the critical updates and I haven't had any of the same problems since.

'shutdown -a' will stop the countdown to shutdown.

One question. Why don't microsoft remove the virus from their update site?

no, why would Microsoft be sending you a virus? you are getting the virus
b/c you dont have the updates.

Greetings --

You didn't get it from the Windows Update site, but if you've
connected the PC to the Internet without having first enabling a
firewall, without having first installed an antivirus application with
current virus definition files, and/or before installing the KB824146
Hotfix, you're very likely to have been infected from any of the
thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly broadcasting the
Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few seconds of
exposure.

Yes, when I reinstalled Windows for the 1st time, I connected to the
internet without a firewall or the update patches. I noticed msblaster.exe
shortly afterwards in my list of running processes.

Learning from this experience I reinstalled Windows for a 2nd time. This
time I installed the patches and set up my firewall /before/ connecting to
the internet and had no msblaster.exe problems.

Experience can sometimes be a brutal teacher, but those _are_ the
lessons that stick with us the longest. ;-} Glad to hear you've
solved your problem.
