Can anyone help me with a restart prob I have. Computer
is constantly restarting itself for no apparent reason,
and also evry now and then comes up with this message:

This System is shutting down. Please save all files in
use etc etc. Then goes on to say: This Shutdown was
initiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM and gives me 60 seconds
before it shuts down. It also says something about an RPC
(Remote Procedure Call) failing or something! I have no
idea how to stop this or solve this problem, any help
would be appreciated. I have checked the error log and
then sent info to Microsoft webpage and I cant make head
nor tail of what it suggests me to do

Apparently, your computer has an unwelcome visitor (VIRUS) known
as the WM32 Blaster/Lovsan WORM. It only takes a split second for
this WORM to infect your computer if a firewall is not enabled and you
have an active internet connection.

It entered the computer through the internet connection because the "firewall"
was not properly enabled and essential critical updates were not installed from
the Windows Update website. For instructions on fixing the problem, visit:

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.

Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:

I had a simalur problem due to spyware on my system from running file sharing software, regardless of which you use 99% of them have spyware. I am runniong XP Home. I down loaded SPY-Bot (you can find it on CNET.comT)an ran it. It took about 4 times running it before all of it was removed. This solved my problem.

1. uninstall any file sharing software you have
2. Download and run Spy-Bot until you a clean system
3. If this doesn't help do a repair on your OS after you do the above.

Sounds like you have the love-san virus, You need to go to
Microsofts web page, (support.microsoft.com) and patch
your machine first, then you need to virus scan the whole
drive with the latest virus scan updates.
