Remote Procedure Call error message

Whenver I try to log on, a message comes on telling me
that The system is shutting down, and that the shutdown
was intitiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. There is a
specific message that also says: "Windows must now restart
because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated
unexpectedly." A virus scan showed all clear. A System
Restore did not help.
