You need (if they are hooked to routers and getting private IPs like
192.168.x.x) to setup the router to pass the proper port traffic through the
router. Sending an invitation to yourself will do little to no good unless
someone is at the other computer to allow you to access it... The invitation
can still be rejected at the door. You want Remote Desktop.

You did not say what version of Windows XP (Home or Professional) you have?

Read up here - see if any of this helps:

The Remote Desktop Connection software is pre-installed with Windows XP
Professional. To run it, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories,
click Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection. This
software package can also be found on the Windows XP Professional and
Windows XP Home Edition product CDs and can be installed on any supported
Windows platform. To install from the CD, insert the disc into the target
machine's CD-ROM drive, select Perform Additional Tasks, and then click
Install Remote Desktop Connection.

To run remote desktop thought a router at home you will need to enable port

Sorry, I know NOTHING about that particular router. Never even heard of it,
to be quite honest.

However, you can look on their web page.. Their FAQs actually have something
about Port Forwarding.. And the manual does as well. (All that comes from
the web page..) Look around pages 50-54 of the manual for Port Mapping -
the port is 3389. Then you would need to know the IP of your router, not
your PC - it will "forward" the request.

I have Finally been able to set up my computer through a router but now im told that since I have a dynamic IP I have to get a program and set it up so that the IP I use never changes. Please let me know if anyone knows how todo this and if you can help.

THank you
