Hi all,

I have 3 PC's all running XP Pro SP1 networked through a Netgear RP614
router. I am trying to use remote desktop between the three. I have
enabled it on all 3 machines, and it connects OK but wants a log on for the
PC I am trying to connect to. Do I have to have a username set up on the
remote PC for me to access?

Thanks in advance,

Graeme

Yes, you need an account on each machine that is an Administrator or a member of the Remote Desktop
Users group. The account must have a password.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. When selecting users allowed on the remote PC, it
only allows users on that location to be chosen - All 3 machines are on the
same domain, is it possible to select a user on another location?

No, it has to be a local user account on the PC your trying to connect to.

Domain accounts are fine for remote login. Local machine accounts are ok
too.
To repeat what someone else posted ... you need an account on each machine
that is an Administrator or a member of the local Remote Desktop Users
group. The account must have a password.
