Ok I installed remote desktop on my 98 machine--But I cant
get the xp machine to establish a connection, I get
a "Client cannot connect to this remote computer might not
be set up to accept connections" error. How do I set up
the 98 machine to accept connections from my xp machine--
there is no remote tab to choose user accts allowed for
connection on the 98 machine. I have a workgroup
configuration. Please help

You don't. What you installed (and you even said it) was the remote desktop
client. Not the remote desktop host. The host is the computer you connect
to. The client is the computer you do the connecting from. Remote desktop
host is only available in XP pro. Meaning, using remote desktop you can
connect from any windows version using the client, but can only connect to
an XP Pro computer running the host. You can't connect to win98. You'll need
some other software like pc anywhere or vnc or netmeeting to connect to the
win98 machine.

Use Remote Desktop to connect to your XP machine from your 98 machine. I
think you are trying to do it the other way round?
