My first time using this Discussion Group.
I have Windows XP Professional.
When I launch Remote Assistance and use Outlook to a send a invitation, I
receive the following error; "A program could no start. Please try again.
OK".
The error is displayed when I am on the last screen and I click on 'send
invitation'.
I tried saving the invitation, open Outlook and attach the invitation. When
I clicked on the send/receive button, the same error appeared.

Any information will be appreaciated. I Also tried going through the
article postings of Remote Assistance problems and resolutions but I did not
find a article that pertains to my problem.

Thank you.

I am experiencing the same problem in the enterprise, I have already set the
helpers to a group that I am a member of, and set to allow unsolicited
assistance in the group policies, as well as local. I am about out of ideas,
any help would be appreciated.

Go to start/run, and type: control userpasswords2

Look for the user that allows remote assistance, to see if it is disabled.

Ed and everyone else who responded, thank you for your suggestions.

I found out the answer to my problem. First, you have to have local
administrator rights to the desktop. Second, click on start/run, type 'cmd'
and press enter. In the Dos windows, type the following command "sessmgr
-service" and press enter. Reboot the pc and the error will not appear.

I've tried that, and the system will work a few times, then it begins to have
the same problem again. We have 250 PC's that are XP in the house and about
10% of them allow us to remote assist. Unfortunately it is never the same
10%. Do you have GP setting your Remote assistance properties?
