Remote assistance, remote host error

This seems to be a well versed conversation piece but one that doesn't seem to generate an answer to the question, how do I resolve the error?
What causes the error? If I new that I could maybe guess for myself what I need to do, or I could be more specific about ports etc when approaching a foru
I have an XP home edition PC, and the Pc I'm trying to connect to is an XP home machine upgraded from '98, both with SP1
Is a fix being looked at by Microsoft?
Please, is there someone who can walk me through a resolution? I will supply whatever info you need (as long as it's about my PC

Hi,

Usually this is caused because one or both machines are behind a router.
When a system is behind a router, usually you will need to set up port
forwarding for 3389 from the outside world to the internal address (usually
something line 198.162.0.x) of the machine being accessed. This applies to
both ends.
