Remote Assistance problem

I'm trying to connect to my brother-in-law Pc via msn messenger. When he send me the remote assistance request. I click on it I get to see his desktopl, but once I click on the take control. It says Read only mode then disconnects. I was able to do this in the past. What could have changed , not to let me take control.
