Could anyone please help with suggestions for freeware that will allow me to
access other users PC's to provide support and training. I'd like remote
users to be able to see what I'm doing when they are logged in to a very
secure web based database.

UltraVNC at www.ultravnc from their site....

"UltraVNC is an easy to use, fast and free software that can display the
screen of another computer (via internet or network) on your own screen. The
program allows you to use your mouse and keyboard to control the other PC
remotely. It means that you can work on a remote computer, as if you were
sitting in front of it, right from your current location.
If you provide computer support, you can easy access your customer's
computers from anywhere in the world and resolve helpdesk issues remotely !
Your customers don't have to pre-install software or execute complex
procedures to get remote helpdesk support. UltraVNC allows you to remotely
control a computer over any TCP/IP connection.

UltraVNC key features include FileTransfer, Video Driver, Encryption
Plugins, MS Logon, high performances over all kinds of connections, Viewer
Toolbar, JavaViewer with FileTransfer, autoscaling and serverside scaling,
Multiple Monitors support, Repeater/proxy support, good Security and Text
Chat.

UltraVNC also has powerfull addons like Repeater, SingleClick packager
and Nat to Nat connector, that help you to easely handle the most complex
connection situations.

UltraVNC runs under WindowsT operating systems (95, 98, Me, NT4, 2000,
XP, 2003...), but its embedded JavaViewer allows you to connect (and make
File Transfers) from a simple Web Browser on any Operating system supporting
JavaT (Linux, Mac OS...) to an UltraVNC server."

I use it all the time for maintaining client and family systems and it works
even over dial-up connections.

Can anyone recommend a good (easy to follow) tutorial of how to use this
software for the lay man/beginner user?

Install the server on the computer you want to connect TO. Install
the client on the computer you want to connect FROM.

(Make sure that the server computer is directly connected to the
internet, or that the router it's connected to is forwarding the port
to it - http://www,portforward,com for info)

Set up a password on the server. (Leave all the defaults in the
properties screens alone except for the password. You can play with
them when you get familiar with the program.)

Run the client. Tell it to connect. Type in the password. You're
now looking at the desktop on the server computer. Use it as if you
were sitting there instead of here.

Any questions? Post them here.
