Harri

I have two computers on a home network, and one of them
is playing up. I want to be able to control the faulty
computer with the other computer. How can I do this?
Both computers are running Windows XP Home Edition.

I cannot access any files on the laptop; whenever I try
to access exe files, or control panel files I just get
the message that the file cannot be found. The computer
won't even access files on CD. I can go into files via
the network connection from my main computer. I just
want to control the laptop from the desktop, so I can see
if there are any problems with the drive, or corrupted
files and if necessary carry out a new installation of
Windows.

Looks like my other reply hasn't shown up (yet?) - so sorry if this is a
dupe...

You can view the event logs on one computer from the other....does that help
you? You can also back up the files from the malfunctioning one to the
other....

On the computer that won't work, can you boot up in safe mode?

Might want to try running a repair install of XP on the laptop....but good
to back up your files first, as always.
