I used to transfer large files over the internet to other
computers. This was with Windows 98. I had a LAN with a
hub and I would simply share a folder on my computer and
then go to another computer, go to the command line, and
type //xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/sharename$ and then press enter
(the x's refer to my own computer's IP address). This
would open a folder displaying the files in my shared
folder. That worked great.

Now I have a LAN with Windows XP Pro and a LinkSys Router.
The Internet connection has a 216.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address.
My router has a 192.168.1.1 IP address and my computer
has a 192.168.1.105 address. I would like to do the same
thing as mentioned above. However when I type the address
of my internet connection into the command line e.g.
//216.xxx.xxx.xxx/sharename$ it brings up a dialog box
that states:

"Connecting to 216.xxx.xxx.xxx" and then it has a prompt
for the user name and password. What username and
password am I supposed to type in here? My router password?
If that is the case my router has no place to set a user
name. Is it looking for the router Domain or Host name?
Or is it asking for my Windows XP user name and password.

Please help!

I can't get past this dialog box.

Thanks if you have an answer!!
