I get an error 711, when trying to setup a dialup connection.

I've seen and tried the items in MSKB 330163. Telephony is started but
trying to start the manager gives me an error 5: access denied.

Any idea's?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply but as I mentioned, I've seen article 330163 and it
does not help. Telephony, etc is already running but trying to start the
connection manager gives me an Access Denied error. I've also seen the
article referring to HP modem problems but that does not apply either. It's
not an HP and the modem is installed and can be queried. I suspect a
security setting or registry issue but can't find it.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hello Steve,

Try changing the permissions with which the Remote Access Connection
Manager Service starts up with.

1. Go to Start/Run type Services.msc
2. Double Click on the Remote Access Connection Manager Service.
3. Look at the LogOn tab and make sure it is set to Local System Account
and that Allow service to interact with desktop is unchecked.
4. If it is set this way, switch it to This account and enter your Admin
credentials.
