Hi Gurus,

How can I get a remote access to my Windows XP PC with private IP
address (Verizon DSL) supporting file transfer?
What software can you recommend? I would like to buy a software instead
to be charged monthly or yearly. Thus, go2mypc seems not to be a best
option for me.

Thanks,
MB

XP Pro has built in remote desktop. Does your Verizon DLS go through a
firewall/router? If so, you'll need to get into that device and forward port
3389 to the PC you wish to remote desktop to.

You'll also need to enable remote desktop on the machine you wish to remote
to.

If you want other software besides the built in remote desktop, look into VNC.

Unfortunately, I do not have an access to router/other network device
with external public IP.

As far as I know VNC it doesn't support NAT-to-NAT connections.

For VNC, look at UltraVNC, which has the look/feel of Remote Desktop and
allows for file transfers. Beside, it is free!

You've got to have a public IP address somewhere to access the Internet.

Check to see what your PC's IP address is, then Navigate to
www.whatismyip.com to see what your public IP address is. If the address's
are the same, you should be able to do a direct connect assuming you have the
firewall open. If not, you need to find where you are getting the NAT
address on your PC from.
