Hi - I access a number of password protected websites (no, they ain't porn!!
<G>) and I usually check the "remember password" box to make life simpler.
It has worked fine until this week, when suddenly all the remembered
passwords were no longer remembered. The only thing I did out of the
ordinary was to run the hard disk error checking utility, but I've done that
in the past and don't recall losing the passwords. The utility did not
report any problems. Any thoughts on what may have caused me to lose the
passwords? Any indications that might be trouble brewing?
Thanks,
Whit

See "AutoComplete Does Not Save Username and Password"

Hi Thorsten

I anxiously waited for a reply to this man's problem, cause I have the same one
Your reply, however, didn`t really give a simple, direct answer
How can I find the User names and Passwords that have been lost for some reason or another
Isn`t there a folder or file to go to in my Win XP Home Edition to find the passwords I created months ago
I don`t get it .. it`s MY info, MY computer ... yet, almost impossible to find it

Thanks
Mik

Hi Thorsten - Thanks for your response. I read and checked the info, but
I've still got a question. Fortunately, I don't have Mike's problem (I feel
for ya', Mike) but I still don't understand what happened. The "Remember
Password" function had been working fine for months, then suddenly they were
all gone. Now that I have re-entered them, they are remembered again. I did
not change any settings. "AutoComplete" and "Protected Storage" were both
properly set and I hadn't been messing with them. I was just trying to
figure out why they suddenly vanished. I hate it when things like that
happen. It keeps me awake at night wondering if the hard drive is crumbling
while I'm sleeping.
Thanks,
Whit

Sorry, but I cannot give you any more details on this. The MSKB
article obviously does not cover your problem.
You may want to post this to
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser,
where the IE is supported. You may get more informations there.

The password information is sensible informatio, therefore there is no
single file or folder for this but the data is encrypted (as far as I
know, in the Registry).

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give 'em a shot at it.

Have you just done the IE update, if so it could be that as I think it
clears the cache but it should work again when you next visit the sites
and ask for passwords to be remembered.
