remember my password

When I get the prompt to enter a password, I don't get
the options to "remember my password." It's not even on
the screen. Why? How can I fix it?
 
Have a good look at what's under "Users and Passwords"
in the Control Panel. Be warned: If you forget your password
(because you don't enter it any more) then you might be
unable to get into the system some day, unless you make
a note of it somewhere.
