HI - i am having problems with my PC's reliability,

It crashed serveral times a day (i am using it non-stop for 10 hours per day)

But... it needs to be more reliable!

What can i do?

Thanks,

KGB

I'd say install a couple case fans... but no... wait... it's a laptop darn it.

on a serious note, try running adaware and defragment it, if it needs it. Virus scan.

A spring clean sounds like it should do the trick. Give Adaware and Virus scanning a go like Chris said, and then see if you have some things loading up on startup that you don't need (using msconfig).

When your laptop crashes, how does it crash? It may give us a clue for something that could be causing it :)

OK... i have done Virus scan (NIS2004), Defrag, disc cleenup and removed unused programs

Will try spyware...

It usually crashes on Enemy terrirtory, game freezes, and the sounds are like a stuck record! (yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, etc...)

There is nothing i can do to revive it,

ctrl+alt+delet - nothing
esc - nothing
minimise (win key + M) - nothing

When it is not on ET, it is on things like word, Pinnacle studio 8 etc...

Then the program stops responding - fixed by "end task"

Will now try spyware...

Thanks all,

KGB

Perhaps change/update your video/sound drivers. Is it confined to games only?

If just in games, maybe the cooling system has clogged up?

Put all the factors together

- on all day everyday
- Excessive use
- High loads on CPU
- Gaming

Maybe it could be getting just too hot?

Just a thought...

It has been on all day, but is cold - My laptop does not get hot!

It is "stone cold" - only a tiny bit of heat comming from the hard drive.

How can i find out how hot it is (without shoving a thermomiter in it)?

I have been playing this game for months, and it oly started crashing 3 weeks ago

I kinda had that problem, when i overclocked my cpu (which runs fine now) my games would freeze up and the sounds would repeat over and over. Then i got a new CPU cooler (Aero 7 lite) and some new fans, and what do you know fixed my problem! Then again you have a Laptop...

... clasic 'problem', seek out the latest drivers for sound, video & DirectX

Run 'event viewer' to see what 'hung' ... it should tell you.
